15 May 2019, Brussels Belgium
Organisers: The European Forest Institute and the European Network Integrate
The European Forest Institute in collaboration with the European Network Integrate will present the findings of the Białowieża Science Initiative on 15 May in Brussels. Following the presentation, there will be a public panel discussion on forest conservation and management in Europe.
The Białowieża Forest is a large forest complex on the border between Poland and Belarus. It is recognised worldwide for its biodiversity, but also for a long-time history of conflict between different groups. The Białowieża Science Initiative gathered 20 scientists representing different disciplines and viewpoints. The project collected the available scientific evidence on the current and future situation of the Forest, and drew conclusions for other forests in Europe facing similar challenges.
